Welcome! We are here to Stand with Matt. Matt is loved by his family, his friends, and his community. We know him as a kind, caring, funny and witty guy. Matt has always been one to speak his mind! He cares deeply about his community, country, and people suffering under the current administration. All of us have been affected by, or know, someone affected by this current political climate. The pain, sadness, and anger that accompanies such knowledge has taken a severe toll on an overwhelming number of citizens living in the United States. It stands to reason that on occasion any one of us might speak out in anger about what is going on in our country. Matt experienced one such moment and as punishment is now at risk of serving potential Federal jail time, having to pay exorbitant fines, and threats to his physical safety due to the national attention he’s received.  Matt is a non-violent individual.  All of us that know, and love him understand that Matt would never physically harm anyone. He’s a gentle soul who loves his family, friends, community and his cats.

“My perspective on this situation is that I had a normal emotional (verbal) reaction to a very abnormal social and political climate. People I care about have been affected by decisions made under this administration. Now, I’m being made an example of to get the point across that We the People are, in fact, not in control of what is happening in our country right now”.

We’ve all had angry thoughts. We’ve all said things that perhaps we should have kept to ourselves. No one should have to have their life turned upside down, put in danger, and brought to a halt because of angry words. Please look into your own heart and try to understand that this could literally happen to any one of us. Matt may be the example right now. Who’s next?
